    This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the programming of Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance Systems and related Video Management Systems. In addition, this position installs Database Management Systems, designs and maintains Access Control Systems for providing services and is the escalation point of contact for field technicians when installing equipment at customer site.  



    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position.  Other duties may be assigned:

    Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer include, but are not limited to:

    • Engage with the Sales team to design or help with design of Access Control System Solutions


    • Continuously refine solutions for customer as needed by the Sales, Engineering, Inventory, Service, and Project Management teams through-out the sales cycle


    • Coordinate with the Project Manager and the Installation team on configuration and engineering challenges during installation


    • Ensure all assigned projects are completed on-time and within budget


    • Maintains and submits accurate paperwork and documentation for:
      • Access Control Systems Design and Architecture
      • Installation, and Service projects
      • Test & Inspection forms for access control, video surveillance and alarm systems
      • Identifies Punch-list items and directs and/or handles making these corrections
      • Manage and Develop audits on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and year basis as needed and/or required for all Access Control, Video Surveillance, VMS Systems, Database Management and Network Solutions
      • Technical project-specific information
        • System configuration
        • IP schematics
        • System user/admin credentials
        • Standard Operating Procedure and Best Practices documentation


    • Responsible for completing, and in some cases, maintaining, programming of supported systems.  This can include Access Control, Video Surveillance, VMS Systems, Database Management and Network Solutions


    • Responsible for developing technical solutions and new relevant tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and repeat tasks to avoid system and operational inefficiencies.  This also includes identifying project needs and effectively communicating those needs to the installation and service team to allow for completion of tasks in a timely and cost-efficient manner


    • Must have demonstrated knowledge of at least one relational database management system (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle). Responsible for perform updates and configure maintenance schedule for the RDBMS running the Access Control System


    • This position must maintain the following certifications at a minimum but not limited to:
    • AMAG
    • Safe / Quantum
    • Feenics
    • Lenel
    • S2 Security Systems
    • Brivo
    • ONNSI
    • NUUO
    • OpenEye
    • SureView


    • Define and Standardized all Servers, Workstations, Network Switches and additional network equipment with (3) tiers pricing solutions


    • Must be familiar with installation, configuration, and maintenance of at least one industry leading Physical Security Management platform, such as SureView


    • Programming/configuration may include any of the following tasks:
      • Configuring alarm panels, contacts, and related communication equipment
      • Remotely manage and update cameras, workstations, servers
      • Termination and connection of wires (when necessary)
      • Programming, set-up, testing of systems for deployment
      • Ensuring systems are properly configured before leaving company premises to avoid unnecessary return trips and service calls
      • All systems under the control of this position must be completed documented
      • Assist the Sales engineers in performing site surveys and help the sales team as needed including but not limited to engaging in customer design
      • Create timely job status updates, as built drawings, and other documentation that is relevant


    • Coordination with other team members to facilitate job/project task working with assigned Project Manager. Including but not limited to:
      • Working with various IT staff to complete project requirements and/or deadlines
      • Working with any sub-contractor personnel to ensure proper testing is conducted prior to final punch-walk
      • Working with manufacturer professional services/technical support

    • Minimum 7+ years of Security and / or IT industry related experience
    • A Bachelor degree from an accredited University is desirable, minimum two-year degree and/or professional certification will be considered in lieu of a degree
    • In-depth understanding of IT Infrastructures and Security Systems Architecture
    • Experience in Information/Network/Software Security Engineering
    • In-depth knowledge and experience with Network Topology
    • Knowledge in application design, development and testing
    • Hands-on experience with programming and maintaining security systems solutions.
    • In-depth knowledge of security systems integration, to include, but not limited to:
      • Access Control
      • Network Structures
      • Relational Database Management
      • Video Surveillance
      • Intrusion Detection Systems
      • Visitor and Lobby Management Systems


    • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines. Must be highly organized and able to keep executives on track with reports and details
    • Current US driver’s license, clean driving record (no points in prior 3 years), and ability to safely operate a company vehicle required
    • Must be highly proficient and able to us all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology including Outlook and internet browsers
    • Professional, articulate and able to use good independent judgment and discretion.
    • Must have proven ability to maintain correspondence, discussions and materials in strictest confidence
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization while functioning as a team player


    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk and hear (communicate verbally in person and via telephone), and be able to read computer screens, correspondence and reports.
    • The employee must constantly walk, reach with hands and arms, and drive a vehicle and may be required to climb stairs, ladders or ramps.
    • The job is generally performed in various environments, including outdoors, in parking structures, and in office settings, and the employee may be subject to adverse conditions such as rain, cold or heat for extended periods of time.
    • The ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines (copiers, printers, etc.) and telephones, but occasionally may be above-normal for portions of the shift.
    • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
    • Must be able to focus and multi-task in busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
