    Job Description

    Allied Universal is currently seeking a Software Development Analyst to support the software development team in providing new programs, program changes, and problem resolution for IT-related systems critical to core organizational functions.  The individual will define and analyze business requirements, assist developers with functionality during development, perform QA and testing, and facilitate the delivery of applications to end users. With limited supervision, analyzes and evaluates Allied Universal’s business initiatives and challenges and collaboratively translates them into technology solutions.  

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Lead and participate in the software requirements gathering process through meetings, research, and information gathering including in person and remotely both verbal and written.
    • Document software requirements:
      • Business Requirements Document
      • Use Cases
    • Create wire frame prototype user interfaces. Perform walk-throughs with end users and software developers.
    • Perform data analysis within applications, in existing databases, and in data gathering from end users.
    • Write very basic SQL queries and run more complex SQL queries provided by developers in the process of analyzing data.
    • Document business practices and workflows related software applications.
    • Investigate reported bugs and provide contextual documentation to describe the issues.
    • Perform QA testing. Write test cases and perform integration testing prior to delivery for user acceptance testing.
    • Write and distribute release notes.
    • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests including end-user reviews
    • Occasional travel and overtime to meet project deadlines
    • Participate and contribute as a positive role model to Allied Universal's IT Department and to the organization as a whole

    QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or experience required.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    • A Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field is required.
    • A minimum of 5 years of work experience is required with a minimum of 2 years working on an applications team preferably as a software development analyst.
    • Functional knowledge of the software development lifecycle is required with knowledge of object-oriented programming practices is a plus.
    • Practical knowledge of UML methodology and Use Cases is a plus.
    • Basic SQL query writing skills is a plus. At a minimum, be able to run previously developed queries to analyze the data results.
    • Software testing manually is required and with automated tools is a plus.
    • Ability to make decisions and work independently
    • Demonstrate ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments, and effectively manage deadlines.
    • Must be highly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology.
    • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization while functioning as a team player.

    • The job is generally performed in an office setting utilizing computers.
    • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
    • Must be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
    • Must be able to clearly speak, read and write English.
