Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a seasoned sales management professional to lead the Business Development Managers throughout the Midwest Region.  This position will be responsible for managing a team of territory sales professionals to meet and exceed sales revenue goals.  The Vice President, Business Development (VPBD) will recruit, hire, coach and support the activities of the team to achieve sales and profit objectives.  The VPBD is a key partner, focusing on winning the right clients, developing customer intimacy, and understanding needs by ensuring proposals meet specific client needs.  It is critical that the VPBD not only achieve financial sales goals, but also engage with the team to provide our clients with quality service that fully represents our company culture

 

This position reports to the Regional President.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead your team to meet and exceed financial sales and GP targets through new profitable business by modeling and aligning leadership expectations and behaviors that support the Business Development process.
  • Hire, onboard, train, develop, coach, and engage Business Development Managers (BDMs) to exceed expected results.
  • Conduct regular joint calls to monitor, coach, and develop quality performance
  • Consistently demonstrate the skills necessary to have quality customer-facing interactions
  • Coach and develop each salesperson to the skills, sales process, client verifiable outcomes and key performance indicators to maximize their sales effectiveness
  • Ensure all sales performance and national activity standards are delivered, improving sales effectiveness and results.
  • Oversee and direct sales processes to enhance the quality and quantity of accounts acquired by providing guidance and accountability for quality winning proposals.
  • Manage the metrics and sales effectiveness ratios to drive a bigger, more robust pipeline
  • Review bid specifications, contracts and pricing; assist in resolving related problems, interpretation of specifications, etc.
  • Engage and partner with Regional President and Vice Presidents, National Accounts, Government Services and VP/Specialized Service Offerings to develop market growth strategies, pending opportunities, marketing trends and competitive strategies.  Network and show leadership in the local marketplace by engaging in industry and other business development organizations
  • Accountable without exception for ensuring all sales data be maintained through Sales Force.com along with accurate correspondence, reports, proposals, graphic presentations, etc.
  • Actively engage in proactive talent acquisition and management, building a pipeline, in conjunction with Human Capital Management, of qualified candidates for each BDM position
  • Conduct all business with the highest of ethical and professional standards 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years sales management experience in a business to business or service industry.  We also seek the following:

  • Proven track record of developing and engaging people to achieve superior results
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and facilitate in a team oriented management environment to help identify and solve problems
  • World class interpersonal and communication skills, including highly effective written and oral delivery
  • Collaborative leadership ability to get along with other employees, work under stress and continuously improve
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong effective working relationships with peers, supervisors and the general public
  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers to ensure compliance with fair employment practices and perform multiple tasks in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
