Job Description

Description:

The payroll supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of Allied Universal’s in-house payroll ensuring accurate and timely administration of all payroll processing functions for approximately 150,000 and growing employees including final pay compliance for separated employees in all states.  In addition to these responsibilities, the supervisor will review and approve all daily off cycle payroll controls, positive pay files and NACHA transmissions.  Along with the payroll manager, this role will oversee and manage the third party vendor relationship with PNC Bank, Bank of America, First Data (pay card program and gift card provider) and ADP (print and mail service).  Assist with year-end payroll processing duties to ensure accurate and timely delivery of form W2s, and any other projects as assigned.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise the weekly and bi-weekly gross to net payroll process to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance standards are being met. Including off-cycle payroll batches. 
  • Review, maintain and update policy and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements including final pay (separations). 
  • Resolve inquiries regarding employee’s wage discrepancies.
  • In conjunction with the payroll manager, this individual will be responsible for reviewing payroll bank account reconciliations (e.g. Bank of America and PNC) on a monthly basis and correcting all exception items in a timely manner. 
  • Provide leadership and continuously seek opportunities to re-engineer and drive process improvement. 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Multi-state payroll processing experience
  • Solid understanding of payroll tax compliance and withholdings
  • Previous experience and/or understanding of wage garnishments
  • Ability to handle complex procedures and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong customer service and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrate competent analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Be extremely detail oriented and able to manage a high volume work environment.
  • Ability to easily assimilate and retain considerable amounts of legal procedures for varying types of payroll regulations particular to each state.
  • Show initiative, self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Lead by example.
