Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring a Safety and Compliance Manager. The Safety and Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s compliance programs to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role will partner with cross-functional teams to identify risks, monitor regulatory changes and promote a strong culture of compliance throughout the organization. The Safety and Compliance Manager supports internal client audits, document creation, data/project tracking and management, meeting the client required deadlines, and facilitating project meetings. This role provides direct management of various Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) functions and support for the rollout and implementation of safety programs, policies, and new initiatives. This role ensures that management and project personnel are aware of, and in compliance with, all regulatory agencies, such as OSHA, EPA, etc. The Safety and Compliance Manager role will be remote, but the incumbent will be required to attend the office as required to support the client’s business at our account as directed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review and analyze Emergency Management, Business Continuity, and emergency plans and procedures, and make recommendations for revisions
  • Conduct risk assessments and work with internal/external partners to improve disaster preparedness, crisis response, and business recovery procedures
  • Administer programs and technology to facilitate employee safety and information sharing during a crisis, including mass notification systems
  • Oversee and lead preparedness projects focused on improving resilience and streamlining business continuity and hastening business recovery after an incident
  • Champion resilience through development of action plans, availability of equipment and supplies, and readiness of staff and facilities
  • Identify and report on preparedness best practices, initiatives, and regulations which could improve resilience
  • Develop professional reports on corrective actions and track preparedness changes over time
  • Manage the implementation of new policies and initiatives and advise on overall safety concerns
  • Assist in developing the overall strategy of continuous improvement for Health, Safety & Environment standards
  • Develop, revise, and implement company health, safety and environment policies and programs and procedures and provide HSE technical expertise
  • Partner with customer to create and maintain health, safety, and environment management systems
  • Conduct site inspections and interface with individual project managers and their safety coordinators
  • Stay abreast of all safety-related trends and research safety issues for the refinement of company programs and ensure involvement with company-wide safety and training issues
  • Develop procedures to ensure enforcement of Federal, State, Local, Company and project health, safety and environment regulations, policies and procedures, OSHA, Company, and project safety policies
  • Work with Fleet Manager and insurance carriers to Investigate and report in detail automobile incidents and personal injury incidents and monitor all related claims
  • Manage Worker’s Compensation claims from initial form filing to close of case and monitor application of the Return-to-Work program and modify as needed
  • Draft, review, and finalize company safety reports and update and maintain a variety of company safety records
  • Will work closely with safety coordinator at each project location to ensure site wide HSE compliance
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in applying regulations and monitoring compliance plans with Federal and State OSHA and other regulatory compliance issues while developing strategies and monitoring the effective execution of safety engineering, safety awareness, accident investigation, and health compliance activities

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or related field of study
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Emergency Management or related field driving disaster preparedness and business continuity, law enforcement or military experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with customers
  • Knowledge of emergency management, crisis command, and incident response frameworks
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Familiarity with mass communications platforms, such as Everbridge
  • Ability to research, develop, and keep abreast of tools, techniques, and process improvements to support preparedness

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
  • Possess professional safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Completion of OSHA 500 course for the construction industry or the 501 course for general industry
  • Master’s degree in degree Health and Safety, HSE Management, Safety Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Joint Commission Hospital Accreditation (JCAHO)
  • Experience with behavioral health and nonviolent crisis intervention (CPI) training

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Pay rate: $70,000 per year
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, retirement plan and disability insurance
  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
