Job Description

Peoplemark, an Allied Universal® Company, is hiring a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate processing of payroll related data, interfacing with employees and branch offices regarding all payroll matters, and assisting in other payroll processing tasks as assigned within the department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enter timesheets for temporary employees into WinTeam
  • Ensure timecards are received, approved by client, and totaled correctly
  • Transmit garnishment related files
  • Open incoming mail and distribute as needed
  • Handle telephone inquiries (research requests from branch offices and employees concerning discrepancies and other items)
  • Handle calls relating to W-2s
  • Process stop payments and check reversals
  • Submit and adjust client invoices
  • Submit branch bills for payment
  • Order office supplies
  • Order pay cards as needed for branches
  • Work with the branch manager regarding aging reports

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in payroll, accounting, or other shared services related field
  • Working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other employment related laws
  • Excellent skills in mathematics and reading comprehension
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Research, investigate, compile information
  • Write informatively, clearly, and accurately
  • Attending to detail
  • Planning and organizing
  • Problem solving
  • Encourage effective teamwork
  • Compile, sort, and interpret data
  • Proficient skills in payroll applications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Accounting
