Job Description

Allied Universal Security Services is currently seeking a  The VP IT – Applications  to plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation and support of enterprise information systems and software applications. The VP is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications, and recommending new systems as business needs necessitate. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Plan, staff, train, and direct software development and database analyst personnel. Recommend staffing levels, and resources to support best practices and business operations
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all application systems, including enhancements.
  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure that systems meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve system issues
  • Conduct research and feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions
  • Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications
  • Manage on-going vendor relationships
  • Manage intellectual property related to company url’s, and system applications
  • Assist with due diligence for acquired companies. Plan and manage data integration of acquisitions
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for staff and stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, security and quality assurance best practices.
  • Test application performance and provide statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining appropriate applications in an efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Participate and contribute as a positive role model to Allied Universal's IT Department and to the organization as a whole

  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent application and system activities.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology industry including security and data privacy awareness, improved development processes, and technology trends.

  • Manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base.

  • Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the IT management team and aligned with Allied Universal’s business strategies.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field plus at least 10 years of experience in IT  with minimum of 2 years in a management or supervisory capacity. In addition, we seek the following: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise and desktop applications on Microsoft based platforms including SQL Server, SharePoint, Reporting Services, .NET Framework and, Team Foundation Server
  • Strong understanding of application development methodologies such as Agile
  • Experience with data integration and conversions
  • Extensive experience with implementing enterprise wide applications
  • Superior analytical and problem solving abilities in addition to proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and strong project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills, as well as strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills as well as ability to make sound and logical judgments
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergencies
