Job Description

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager is a leadership position and an integral part of the client’s Physical Security & Safety team to ensure we maintain a safe and secure environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and guests.  We are seeking someone who is both professional, courteous and possesses the technical acumen to oversee the team’s effort in safeguarding and protecting the Company’s people, property and processes, and contribute towards doing it with first-class customer service.

 

Please note that this is a physical security related role.  This is not a cyber security position.

 

The leader selected for this role is an experienced professional who has expertise in leading people, process and technology in the Physical Security Operations Center environment, including shift-based team leadership, strategic program oversight, effective communication (writing, speaking and presenting) and policy and procedure development, as well as project management. 

Specific functional areas of responsibility and proficiency include security alarm monitoring principles, dispatching and coordinating allocation of resources, stakeholder (customers and operational partners) involvement, data-driven (metrics) reporting, team and task-specific performance assessment, travel safety and critical physical security incident response management. This leader is responsible for driving process implementation and refinement, short and long-term project management, cross-team (SOC and field-services) collaboration, maintenance of internal and external stakeholder relationships and directly supervises a team of Supervisors, Senior Operators, and Operators on assigned shifts.

 

Essential Job Functions:

This Leader will:

  • Be tasked with generating and maintaining a culture of accountability within the SOC team. The responsibilities of the SOC team are critical to keeping the company and its employees safe. Generating and maintaining accountability and dedication to the mission amongst the team is one of the most important goals for this position.
  • Should be familiar with basic HR rules and regulations and employee rights. Conducting oneself properly as a leader so that HR regulations are adhered to is critical for success.
  • Have the following responsibilities: motivating the team, managing projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining an overall environment of continued improvement.
  • Should be able to present examples of how you disciplined and improved performance and conduct of a team member. This should be an example of how you provide ethical management, that is--managing in all directions: up, across, down.
  • Meet an expectation to be ready for call outs, after-hours calls, irregular work hours, and stressful scenarios requiring maturity and poise.
  • Oversee the coordinated development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to the SOC and affected stakeholders
  • Support the Physical Threat Intelligence requirement utilizing the intelligence cycle and effective vetting and validation processes to provide accurate, timely, relevant and actionable intelligence to stakeholders.
  • Lead the team by providing both strategic direction and hands-on guidance to team members in handling issues
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and alignment of position responsibilities for each shift
  • Supervise the implementation of new technologies and business processes to improve efficiency
  • Initiate and maintain strategic planning to keep pace with growth of business teams, number of sites and evolving customer and stakeholder needs, constant improvement of SOC capabilities
  • Build, lead, manage, and motivate teams in a dynamic, rapidly evolving and cross-functional environment that is centered around the use of people, process and technology to ensure life-safety, physical security and resiliency at corporate sites and for those traveling on corporate business
  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) as per client Master Service Agreement
  • Ensure compliance with client expectations and policies, monitor assets and make rapid notifications via mass communication tools to stakeholders
  • Provide enterprise detection and coordinated response to physical security, safety and business continuity events
  • Develop and maintain security-services performance metrics and related reports
  • Assist and support field-based physical security specialists, site physical security facilitators, and program stakeholders
  • Stay at front edge of industry best practices relating to control center physical security management and related services

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, LICENSES & CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 years minimum leadership experience
  • Minimum of 2 years GSOC Operations experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of various physical access control platforms, video management systems and physical security incident management applications/software
  • Helpful to have certificates such as - ASIS certifications (APP, CPP, PSP, etc.) and/or membership in various groups: OSAC, DSAC, HSIN, etc.
  • Must be an objectively recognized Incident and Crisis Manager (references will be contacted.)

Schedule:

The GSOC Manager position is a salaried position. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. However, this position requires being flexible to accommodate operational requirements and client needs. Ad-hoc shifts will occasionally need to be worked.

Compensation & Benefits:

$65 - 70K annually, based on experience, training and other related qualifications
