Job Description

Allied Universal® is hiring a Director, Database Services. The Director of Database Services will lead the database services and applications hosting team. The Director of Database Services role will oversee database architecture, administration, performance optimization, security, and compliance, ensuring seamless and efficient data operations across the organization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Database Strategy and Architecture
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive database strategy aligned with business objectives and IT initiatives
    • Architect scalable, high-performing, and secure database solutions to meet business needs
    • Oversee the evaluation and adoption of emerging database technologies and best practices
  • Database Administration and Operations
    • Manage and optimize database systems, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery
    • Lead a team of database services team in maintaining high availability, reliability, and integrity of enterprise databases
    • Work closely with development teams to optimize data models and queries
    • Perform monitoring of database performance and troubleshoot detected issues
    • Implement automation and monitoring tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Applications Hosting
    • Lead the database services team in hosting all internal applications
    • Collaborate with IT Infrastructure team
  • SOX Administration for Database and Applications Team
    • Lead SOX administration including reporting and automated tools
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of database professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
    • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to align database solutions with enterprise goals
    • Provide technical guidance on database-related projects and initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in database management, including leadership roles
  • Expertise in database technologies primarily with Microsoft SQL Server, and secondary with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
  • Experience with both on-premise and cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, replication, backup, and recovery
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server including programming T-SQL., SSIS, and SSRS
  • Strong knowledge of data security, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX), and governance frameworks
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Understanding of security frameworks, data protection, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Experience using CI/CD with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Functional knowledge of C# and .NET
  • Experience with DevOps and Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines. Experience specifically with TFS
