Job Description

The Armed Residential Security Team (RST) Agent (plain-clothes / concealed carry) is tasked with safeguarding the Principal(s) and their property in Montecito, CA. This is a full-time job opportunity working 12-hour shifts, 3 to 4 days a week 7am-7pm. Days, swing and grave shifts required. RST Agents are often directed to work overtime (OT), nights, holidays and weekends.

 

Requirements:

 

Applicants should be in good overall physical, mental and emotional condition, have a reputation as a team player and be willing to work long hours with ever-changing schedules. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to tactfully negotiate conflict and remain flexible is a must. RST Agents must possess the ability to interact and communicate effectively. Candidates must be able to brief, defend, persuade and instruct others on security requirements and policies. Demonstrated emotional intelligence, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to write in a clear and precise manner are also required. Additional requirements:

  • Former law enforcement officer, veteran and/or extensive security experience
  • Valid California BSIS Guard License and Exposed Firearm Permit
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous RST / EP training and experience highly desirable

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

 

  • Perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the posts to which they are assigned. 
  • Maintain vigilance in monitoring activities of principals, guests, and others around the assigned post. 
  • Immediately report suspicious activity by recording observations, information, occurrences, and changes in the surrounding area. 
  • Interact with principal(s), clients, staff, and others in a way that is professional, courteous and in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist with low to mid-level concerns, including but not limited to scheduling and property management to add convenience and bolster privacy.
  • Implement security, access control, escort procedures, and maintain entry logs
  • Monitor early-warning detection systems, security alarms, and cameras to identify and resolve security risks.
  • Conduct re-occurring Risk, Threat, and Vulnerability Assessments and make recommendations for improvement of security measures on the property.
  • Successful completion of annual and/or sustainment training program requirements.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with all equipment used in support of the protective operations program (i.e., vehicles, medical supplies, communication devices, etc.).  Perform regular serviceability checks on all equipment.
  • Respond to emergent and non-emergent incidents per account Standard Operating Procedures and Post Orders.  This includes verbal de-escalation, use of non-lethal force, deadly force and rendering appropriate medical attention.  Coordinate contingency plans and emergency medical response for security incidents with local authorities. 
  • Conduct thorough investigations and prepare written documentation with reports, pictures and witness statements.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in a clear and precise manner using multiple technology devices (i.e., radio, cellular phone, computer, etc.) with the principal(s), client and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather and assess information while exercising sound judgement in the decision-making process.  Appropriately escalate issues to team leadership.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while working with the Principal, client, and other stakeholders. 
  • Safeguard and maintain highly sensitive and confidential information of the company and the client and principal(s).
  • Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills in a cross-functional environment.  Provide and receive constructive feedback for improvement of team operations.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in an organized, efficient and effective manner.
  • Provide excellent service by being personable, professional, proactive and responsive.
  • Establish trust and confidence with all parties by exemplifying a high degree of professionalism at all times.
  • Adapt to a dynamic operational environment.
  • Work irregular or extended hours with an ever-changing schedule.  Typical schedules include overtime, nights, holidays and weekends on a regular basis.  
  • Comply with requirements to attend team meetings and training to satisfy licensing/compliance requirements. Required training includes, but is not limited to:
  • Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills (collaboration, communication, cooperation, etc.) by providing and receiving constructive feedback for development.
  • Establish credibility and be accountable by operating with a high level of integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Maintain professional personal appearance.
  • Operate motor vehicles in a safe and legal manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

 

$37 per hour based on experience, training and other related qualifications
